CATL Launches High-Performance Heavy-Duty Batteries
November 25,2024
Accelerating Heavy-Duty Electrification
Heavy-duty vehicles, crucial for industrial operations such as mining, steel transportation, and logistics, are undergoing rapid electrification. Since CATL entered the heavy-duty market in 2017, the sector has seen significant growth—from an electrification rate of just 0.1% in 2019 to 11.2% by September 2024. This transformation highlights the industry's shift toward sustainability.
Addressing the audience, Gao Huan, CTO of CATL’s Domestic Commercial Division, emphasized the company's long-term commitment to innovation. “From high-altitude mines in Inner Mongolia to extreme temperatures in Xinjiang, we’ve developed solutions that withstand the harshest environments while delivering superior performance.”
Tianxing Series: A Comprehensive Solution
The Tianxing Series includes Ultra-Fast Charging, Long-Life, Long-Range, and High-Intensity models, tailored to meet diverse industry needs. Key highlights include:
Ultra-Fast Charging Model: Enables 70% charging in 15 minutes, ideal for high-turnover scenarios such as construction and short-distance transport.
Long-Life Model: Offers an industry-leading lifespan of up to 15 years or 3 million kilometers, dramatically reducing operational costs.
High-Capacity Model: Provides up to 600 kWh, supporting maximum ranges of 500 kilometers, suitable for long-haul and high-energy-demand operations.
These innovations achieve 43% higher charging efficiency and 50% lower energy loss, supported by cutting-edge 1,000-volt technology.
Delivering Real-World Impact
CATL’s solutions have already made a measurable difference. In mining operations, electric heavy trucks equipped with Tianxing batteries have reduced operating costs by 30% while offering quieter, smoother, and more sustainable performance. Similarly, Shanghai Port’s electric vehicles utilizing CATL’s swap stations operate efficiently, reducing emissions and improving worker conditions.
A Sustainable Future
Heavy-duty vehicles account for a significant portion of carbon emissions in the transport sector, underscoring the urgency of their electrification. CATL’s Tianxing Series embodies the company’s vision for a greener future, aligning with global goals for carbon neutrality.
“With Tianxing, CATL has filled the final gap in its commercial vehicle product line,” said Gao. “We look forward to collaborating with global partners to accelerate the adoption of electric heavy-duty vehicles, creating a sustainable logistics ecosystem worldwide.”
