In the first half of 2024, China's truck exports totaled 351,076 units, showing a solid 6% increase compared to the same period last year. Mexico and Vietnam emerged as the top two destinations for Chinese trucks during this period.
June 2024 alone witnessed China exporting 61,769 trucks, reflecting a 6% year-on-year growth. From January to June 2024, the cumulative exports reached 351,076 units, maintaining the 6% growth rate throughout this period.
According to data from the China Automobile Dealers Association, truck exports from January to June have over the past seven years are as below:
Key highlights of China's truck export market in the first half of 2024 include:
Stable Growth: Despite a 5% decrease from May to June, the market showed a steady 6% year-on-year increase, indicating stable development.
Record Highs: With 35.11 million units exported from January to June, this period marked one of the highest export volumes in recent years, driven by improved competitiveness of Chinese truck brands overseas and strategic shifts in overseas investments.
Category Leadership: Light trucks led the exports, accounting for 53.2% in June and 51% from January to June, followed by medium trucks.
Fuel Preference: Diesel trucks dominated the market with over 70% of total exports, while new energy vehicles experienced a decline due to global market challenges.
Top Export Destinations: In June, Mexico and Chile ranked second and third respectively, with Saudi Arabia leading the market. For the first half of the year, Mexico and Vietnam secured the second and third spots, with Algeria showing the highest growth among export destinations.
Overall, China's truck export market in the first half of 2024 demonstrated resilience and growth, driven by enhanced product competitiveness, strategic investments abroad, and strong performance in key export categories and destinations.
