After six months of discussions, the two sides have moved quickly since signing a Letter of Intent (LOI). The project will roll out in two to three phases, covering new energy buses, light commercial vehicles (LCVs), and heavy-duty trucks (HDTs).
HRL Engineering Group, led by Zahid Rafiq, is one of Pakistan’s top engineering and construction companies. It operates in multiple sectors, including power, oil and gas, industrial facilities, mining, smart cities, green energy, healthcare, and education.
Geely's presence in Pakistan dates back to April 2019, when its subsidiary, Proton, signed a production technology licensing agreement with Pakistan’s Alhaj Automotive Group and set up a CKD assembly plant in Karachi to expand into South Asia. In December 2020, Geely and Pakistan’s Master Motor formed a joint venture, “Master Motors,” to handle vehicle production, sales, and after-sales services. In 2021, Geely launched its first model in Pakistan, the Coolray, which quickly gained attention for its competitive pricing and advanced features.
Farizon, Geely’s new energy commercial vehicle brand, specializes in electric and hydrogen-powered trucks. Its cutting-edge technology aligns with Pakistan’s green energy policies and sustainability goals.
Through this partnership, Geely aims to strengthen its presence in Pakistan by leveraging local expertise, expanding brand awareness, and accelerating market growth.
