Construction is set to begin in November, and the factory will have the capacity to produce up to 10,000 trucks per year once completed. A delegation from the Chinese company has already visited the planned site in the "Silk Road" Free Economic Zone. FAW Jiefang’s collaboration with Uzbekistan actually started in 2023, when they partnered with UzAuto Trailer and Vodiy Universal Majmua to begin assembling trucks. At that time, they also committed to producing clean energy electric trucks, with an investment of around $15 million.

FAW Jiefang is one of China’s oldest and largest vehicle manufacturers, producing around 3.5 million vehicles annually. Its product lineup includes light, medium, and heavy-duty trucks, as well as off-road and passenger vehicles.

In addition, Uzbekistan’s Kursiv previously reported that UzAuto Trailer plans to manufacture trailers and semi-trailers in Russia. Beyond Jiefang, another Chinese automaker, BYD, began assembling hybrid cars in Uzbekistan in January of this year. Their joint venture with UzAuto in the Jizzakh region has an annual production capacity of 50,000 vehicles. The plant has already launched two models: the Song Plus and Chazor hybrids. The factory was inaugurated during a state visit by the President of Uzbekistan to China in January, marking the first phase of a $160 million project.

The second phase of this project will involve an additional $300 million investment, increasing the factory's annual capacity to 200,000 vehicles by 2027-2028. By 2028-2029, production will further rise to 350,000 vehicles. The final phase, with a $500 million investment, aims to boost output to 500,000 vehicles annually by 2030. The plant currently employs 1,200 workers. Last year, 200 employees received training at the UzAuto plant, and this year, 92 more will be trained in China, specializing in quality control, technology, supply chain management, and equipment maintenance. Once all three phases of the project are completed, the plant is expected to create 10,000 jobs.
