ZO Motors Break Ground on Its First KD Factory in Cambodia
August 26,2024
On August 25, ZO Motors held the groundbreaking ceremony for its first KD factory in Cambodia's Banteay Meanchey Province. The event was attended by Cambodian Minister of Mines and Energy, Mr. Kul Radda, as well as ZO Motors’s Asia-Pacific President and China President, Mr. He Dong, and Vice President of ZO Motors' Future Group and Executive Director of ZO Motors, Mr. Terasaki Hiroyoshi.
This groundbreaking marks a significant step in ZO Motors's global expansion. The new factory is not only the start of ZO Motors's Southeast Asia strategy but also aims to significantly boost its production capacity and supply chain efficiency in the region. The factory is expected to drive local economic growth and enhance ZO Motors's presence in the Asia-Pacific market.
The factory is the first foreign-funded electric truck assembly plant project to follow Cambodia's new energy vehicle development policies. With an initial investment of about $20 million, the factory will cover 10 hectares and focus on assembling and producing electric trucks. Once completed, it will have an annual production capacity of 10,000 units and is expected to create over 2,000 jobs.
Additionally, ZO Motors plans to build 100 charging stations across Cambodia, installing numerous charging points to form a "Hundred Stations and Thousand Plugs" network. This will cover major cities, logistics hubs, and highway service areas, meeting the charging needs of new energy commercial vehicles and improving the local charging network to promote the use of new energy vehicles in Cambodia.
Minister Kul Radda expressed that ZO Motors’s factory in Cambodia demonstrates high recognition of Cambodia’s investment environment. He hopes that ZO Motors will contribute to the development of Cambodia’s new energy vehicle industry and support economic growth and environmental protection.
