Volvo FH with I-Save to be Launched in China, Cutting Fuel Cost by 10%
April 22,2022
The TC engine, as a core technology of FH I-Save system, is known to be the company’s most fuel-effective engine to date. The engine adopts advanced turbo compound technology that converts the thermal kinetic energy of exhaust gases into mechanical energy, resulting in a 13 percent increase in power. In addition, the maximum torque is increased by 300 Nm to 2800 Nm for better starting, acceleration and overtaking ability. More than that, comfort is also enhanced when keeping the engine RPM and noise low at the cruising speeds.
In addition, the engine accessories of Volvo Trucks FH I-Save models will be upgraded. Among them, clutch-equipped air compressor can reduce the usage rate of air compressor, while the variable steering pump can greatly reduce energy consumption to extend the life of the vehicle. Through test, it is found that Volvo Trucks FH I-Save model can cut fuel costs by a further 6 percent per 100 kilometers. This means that the cost problems caused by rising fuel prices can be easily solved through Volvo Trucks' fuel-saving technology solution. In future, Volvo FH I-Save model's combined fuel consumption is expected to reach 10% when equipped with I-See anticipatory cruise control and I-Torque intelligent torque control system.
With technical support by the revolutionary FH I-Save system, the sales of Volvo trucks totaled 99,000 units in Europe in 2021, making it a popular choice for efficient logistics companies. As a winner of 2021 European Fuel Efficiency Award, we are confident that Volvo trucks will inject new energy into the sluggish heavy-duty truck market in China.
In the global context of “Climate Neutral”, China is also accelerating energy saving and emission reduction to achieve the "double carbon" target and put Euro 7 emission standards for light-and-heavy-duty vehicles on agenda. Over the years, Volvo Trucks have been doing its part to improve the environment by either improving fuel economy or exploring alternative fuels. In the future, Volvo Trucks will continue to contribute to environmental protection and efficient transportation of logistics in China with its leading technology.
